Where do I begin with these two? I was so honored to be apart of their big day and to really witness the love between them! When Alicia first messaged me I was excited because she had asked if I was available June 16, 2019. June 16th is also my husband and I’s wedding anniversary. I had no issue what so ever sharing this special day with them and being there for them to capture their memories! Alicia messaged me only a couple months before the wedding so we ended up shooting their engagement session a few weeks before the wedding day. I knew Alicia from high school, we graduated together in 2014. She was always so happy and positive, which everyone loved about her. Who know five years later I’d be photographing her wedding!
Meeting Christ for the first time was such a pleasure! He was easy to get along with and made their engagement session feel so comfortable. I had never been to Saint Charles before, and honestly this was my first wedding I had to travel a good distance for! Saint Charles was beautiful and after looking at the venue online, I seriously couldn’t wait for June 16th! Enough of all the small things, let’s focus on Christopher and Alicia.
I couldn’t tell you how many times I almost cried during this wedding y’all!! To see a groom shed tears over seeing his bride makes my heart SO happy. Seeing Chris and Alicia interact with each other was so sweet. During their engaement session Chris was always making Alicia smile and laugh (making for some super cute photos btw!) To be honest Chris was super a trooper through it all, because lets be real, not all guys like to tough it out through numorus photos, especially in this summer heat.
June 16th started out as a cloudy morning, which everyone always says that rain on your wedding day is good luck! We hoped for a little sunshine, however. Sunshine is what we got y’all. The sun make an apperance during the ceremony and boy was it hot, but SO worth it, these two got MARRIED!!
I absolutely love when couples do first looks, and when brides do one with their bridesmaids. Seeing everyones reaction is priceless, seriously warms my heart. The Bride and Groom got ready in seperate areas, they each had their own building! Stone House of Saint Charles was gorgeous, they were prepared for everything. The grooms quarters had a pool table because we all know the guys are the first to get ready! They guys got to hangout and chill out while the girls finished getting ready.
It was only a matter of time before the Groom seen his soon to be Wife.
I always ask my brides to gather all their details together so when I arrive I can photograph them. Alicia was on her A game y’all, she had everything ready for me! Bless her. She couldn’y have asked for better bridesmaids, they helped me with the dress, making she things were going smoothly, and anything else Alicia needed for her special day.
These girls’ day began with hair and makeup bright and early, by mid afternoon these ladies were looking oh so fabulous! The bridal party all had shirts on that the lovely maid of honor made for everyone. It’s so fun seeing things like that, I love it! When the maid of honor and bridal party take away the stress of wedding planning and get crafty! It also makes for great memories because years from now they’ll come across those shirts one day and smile.
First Looks always allow us more time for portraits (yay!!) I love getting the bridal party together, seeing everyone dressed up and ready for the ceremony! With the sun beating down on us, it only made sense for everyone to cool off inside before the ceremony started. A little bit of air conditioning and snacks didn’t hurt anyone, right?!
Can we just talk about this tree swing for a second? I was literally hyped for this, how often do you find a tree swing at a wedding venue?! Of course we had to take advantage of it.
It was getting closer to 2:30 and Alicia was getting butterflies, because within a matter of minutes she was going to become Mrs. Payne!! The bridal party made their way down the aisle, then everyone stood for the Bride. Alicia’s father walked his baby girl down the aisle to her Groom. I could just feel the emotions during this moment. Watching her dad give away his daughter, oh my.
I’d be lying if I said I didnt tear up! This was it y’all! I mean did you see the love in Chris’ eyes?! This is how you know it’s meant to be, that these two seriously belong together. Oh and the stuff everyones throwing at the newly weds? SPRINKLES! Yes you read that right, the colorful topping you put on ice cream, how creative, right? (Except the after math of all of it!)
Once the ceremony was over we took some time to cool off before doing more portraits. When a bride asks to do a goofy photo with her bridesmaids, we do one!! You gotta have a little fun in life.
Now that these two are officially Mr. + Mrs. Payne, it is time to CELEBRATE!! What’s a wedding without food, cake, and dancing?! But first, the Bride and Grooms first dance and speeches.
The speeches really got to me y’all, when Alicia’s dad was telling stories, oh my gosh! Don’t even get me started about the maid of honors speech. I couldn’t help but think of my little sister as Brandi talked about growing up with Alicia. These are the moments I love about my job.
The food was delicious, every song was a bop (and it was quite hilarious seeing the groomsmen get down to backstreet boys, not going to lie!), overall it was a beautiful day. It was so nice seeing everyone have a great time out on the dance floor. Sometimes I just sit back and realize how lucky I am to work with amazing brides (and grooms!).
I want to give a huge shoutout to Chris + Alicia, you guys are so wonderful, you are great people with kind hearts. I wish nothing but the best for you two and many many happy years in your marriage!
Congratulations Mr. + Mrs. Payne!
