This session was seriously one of my favorites, it actually started the night BEFORE the photoshoot. My dear friend Carina, who helps me out often with photoshoots, and I met Kevin and Morgan at Battlefield State Park around 6pm. This was in the middle of November, so the sunset early, meaning when we arrived, it was DARK!
We met up so Morgan could show us some spots she had in mind, because I personally had never been to this state park, so a little walk through was the perfect idea. We took a long cold and dark walk through the park, we got to know Kevin and Morgan and we honestly had a great time! Kevin and Morgan were so easy to get along with, we joked about stuff, told stories, we all connected so well. I love that about clients, it makes the experience for both of us pretty awesome.
The day of the photoshoot, these two arrive with the PERFECT outfits! When Morgan had first booked with me, she had shown me what she had planned on wearing and I was excited because it was a cute outfit and I knew it would be easy to match with. It was a little bit raining, but that wasn’t going to stop us. We knew we’d get a few drops here and there! Morgan knew what she wanted out of this session, she had shown me ideas she had in mind, which I appreciate so much because when my clients know what they want, it helps me give them what they want.
This wasn’t just a couple shoot, Morgan messaged me asking to do a Birthday Photoshoot. A smash cake photoshoot to be exact! I was thrilled, I had never had this opportunity before. Of course I had seen so many other people do it on Pinterest and always thought it was so creative. I was all for it!! She had a cake, tutu, and everything. This really couldn’t have been more perfect.
But what made it even better was Kevin participating!! State Parks don’t allow alcohol, so we played it safe with color water in the wine bottle. Poor Kevin, Morgan turned 21 so that means WINE TIME! This cake was just the prettiest thing, we had the crown, the cake toppers, the sign, everything you would need for a smash cake photoshoot. Who said you can’t do a 21st smash cake photoshoot?!
Carina and I had the best time with these two, I hope to have the opportunity to work with them again or even the opportunity to do another smash cake photoshoot. Cheers to being 21, Morgan!! Drink up.
